Introduction
This week the members of Team Grover have been collaborating from different parts of the country in a project-based learning. The Assessment Toolbox project has been assigned by our instructor as a midterm project. This project has been designed as a Jigsaw Activity, each member of the group has been charged to research a topic of their choice and then present their selection to the other members of the group. This experience has been very interesting and unique. Throughout this week we have experienced the pros and cons of online collaboration and we also have been exposed to a great amount of information that we have analyzed and compiled in order to share our findings with our colleagues. Whether you teach in a face-to-face class, online or in a blended environment, you will find that our research will help you to enrich your teacher toolbox. Assessment design is a precious component of any educational system, therefore, with the implementation of more online classrooms the need for alternative ways to implement assessments have increased. Education is evolving and so are the ways that we are assessing our students. Like Steve Jobs said, “Computers themselves, and software yet to be developed, will revolutionize the way we learn.” It is our hope that throughout our findings, colleagues around the world will learn and utilize some of the tools that we will be presenting in this project.
Each member of the group has chosen a topic that will be presented throughout this project. Debbie will share with you her journey in regards to the quizzes and tests builders. Next, I (José) will share my thoughts about my research on peer-to-peer collaboration tools. Lastly, Erik will provide great information about his findings on his research over course tracking tools.
The following is our compilation of findings; we hope that you will find our research helpful and applicable in your teachings.
